New Idea

i liked the idea you sugested about looping animation with the band name as a teaser. so i decided to make that my final for this class and then play with the puppet tool for the begining scene that drove me crazy for experiemental animation.

recently I was swamped with an experiential animation project were we had to incorporate sound. i did a short little thing of two characters talking (one of them Sammy). even though it wasn’t for this class it was a useful exercise of lip syncing and figuring out the best way to make my characters move.

also my friend Steven King made this video for the Up All Nights of their new single. Thought I should share this as its more on how the guys play but also seeing a variety of shots and angles which I sometimes have a problem with

Test Animatic

so last semester AfterEffects and I met, and… we didn’t really get along very well. I would try to do something, it say “I don’t wanna”, I would render then it would crash half way through then take out half my project even though I save it. But I’m happy to say that we are starting to get along this semester but I’m still not fully trusting yet. so I figured I’d take the few storyboards I have so far and wip up a snipit of the begining to see how well we’d work together before atempting to do the whole thing and I end up ripping my hair out.

New Update

Last Thursday I saw the boys again. took some more photos… http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=334649&id=716736060&l=b0a3e8282e as well as I tried to pay attention to how each of them move and took mental notes.

Sammy- lead vocals & guitar:

• more active than the other two
• runs around
• jumps
• uses his hands (lots of gestures)
• at lest once per show will jump down to the floor and “convulse” his way back  

 

Jack- bass & back vocals

• doesn’t move much (but he was sick that night)
• does a kinda bounce while he plays
• also does some jumps

 

Tom “Yoyo”- drum & back vocals

• gets into his drumming (by that I mean he sometimes throws his body with the swing
• tends to stay on his left of the drum set

 

I’m having some issues with the sound wave because you have to get down to frames to see details. I have a couple scenes pretty much figured out. I know I want it to start with a lighter turned on and we zoom into the flame. We then see the band just about to start, they jump, and when they land colors and stars fly out.

At the beat, beat, beat parts the member is repeated slightly overlapping. Sort of like the effect in the White Stripes video for Hardest Button to Button

It was after I came up with the idea when I saw this, but it works since I don’t want the moment to look exactly like it and the White Stripes are the guys idols.

At specific parts some title cards will appear identifying each member.

It will end with zooming out of the flame and the lighter will turn off.

so because the song i chose is a rock song, when i went to get the soundwave off aftereffects all there was a long thick wave. i streched it out enough to see some of the beats but still.
